WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Wilmington Hammerheads face off with the Rochester Rhinos at Legion Stadium on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. for the second time this season. Currently, the Hammerheads are trailing the Rhinos by two places and six points in the league standings, a deficit David Irving’s side will be hoping to have cut in half by the end of Thursday’s night’s contest.
The Hammerheads and Rhinos have already met once this season, with the Hammerheads travelling north to Sahlen’s Stadium for the first game in a two-game trip. The Hammerheads earned a 1-1 draw against Rochester in that contest when Paul Nicholson found an equalizer in the 66th minute after Rochester’s Tyler Rosenlund had opened the scoring in the 30th minute. The Hammerheads went on to take victory against the Harrisburg City Islanders the following night.
Since their first meeting, the Hammerheads have added a number of assets to their squad. The Hammerheads have extended forward Corey Hertzog’s loan from the New York Red Bulls and have signed Real Salt Lake’s Cody Arnoux and UNC-Charlotte’s Charles Rodriguez.
As the Rochester Rhinos make entry into Legion Stadium on Thursday, the Hammerheads will be looking to defend their winning run to remain unbeaten on their home turf this season in USL PRO so far.
