CAROLINA, Puerto Rico – Puerto Rico United’s Hector ‘Pito’ Ramos scored in the 90th minute to earn his side a 1-1 draw against Sevilla FC Puerto Rico at the Roberto Clemente Walker Stadium on Sunday evening. Ramos headed home from Mauricio Turizo’s cross to answer Sevilla’s goal by Alain Gustave in the 66th minute.

Making its USL PRO debut, Puerto Rico United wanted to try and start strongly, but as the first half progressed Sevilla was able to take more control of the game. But while both sides were trying to attack, United managing to break on the counter, neither side was able to create a dangerous chance before the break.

Sevilla also opened the second half strongly and forced PRU goalkeeper Jose Miranda into making some good saves, but Sevilla’s pressure paid off in the 66th minute when Gustave was able to head home. Sevilla had chances to extend their lead, but were unable to take advantage.

They were made to pay for that in the final minute as Turizo’s free kick from the right floated into the penalty area and Ramos rose to head home into the left corner of the net, earning his side a point and sending Sevilla to its second draw in as many games after a 2-2 tie against River Plate Puerto Rico in its opening game.

The draw was a morale boost for Puerto Rico United, which lost twice to Sevilla in the SuperCopa DirecTV last season. PRU will next face River Plate Puerto Rico next Sunday, while Sevilla will try to find its first win of the season when it hosts the Los Angeles Blues on Friday night.
