ORLANDO, Fla. – After moving into second place in the Southeast Division of the PDL on Friday, Orlando City U23 looks to continue its strong play on Tuesday night against the IMG Bradenton Academics at Seminole Soccer Complex in Sanford, Fla. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Orlando is fresh off a 2-0 win over the Panama City Beach Pirates, vaulting the Lions into second place in the division. A first-half goal by Gonzalo De Mujica put Orlando up 1-0 while a second-half strike by Veneri Valimaa sealed the win against the Pirates at Gavlak Stadium. City has won three straight after falling to division-leading Ocala back on June 20, moving from fourth place to second in the division during that time.
IMG Bradenton, which was previously in second place before Orlando’s victory on Friday, stand third in the division with a record of 7-5-2 and 23 points. The Academics most recently fell to VSI Tampa 2-0, with the Flames scoring in the 15th and 90th minutes to capture the victory. IMG’s leading scorer is Midfielder Milovan Kapor, who has four goals and three assists in 2012.
The two clubs have only met one time this season, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Jonathan Mendoza notched the equalizer after Orlando went down a goal early on, giving the Lions the draw and important point on the road.
The Southeast is led by the Ocala Stampede, who own a record of 10-3-2 and 32 points. Ocala finishes out the season with a match against the Pirates on Sunday. To claim a playoff spot, Orlando must finish in one of the top two spots within the division to advance beyond the regular season.

Player to Watch: Sean Reynolds
Defender Sean Reynolds has come on strong in the past few matches for the U23s. The Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., native has been one of the anchors for the Lion backline, which has only allowed one goal in its past two matches. Look for Reynolds to continue his strong play against IMG Bradenton Tuesday.
