WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Wilmington Hammerheads officially announced today at a press conference the signing of forward Cody Arnoux. A native to Wilmington, Arnoux is a 2006 New Hanover High School graduate. His previous clubs include: Wake Forest University, English Premier League club Everton, the Vancouver Whitecaps and Real Salt Lake.
Arnoux signed with Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake in February of 2011 after playing for the Whitecaps.
In August 2009, Arnoux signed a one-year contract with Everton. In March 2010, he attended a trial with Scottish Premier League team Motherwell. Arnoux was released from Everton at the end of the season, having played for the reserve team seven times.
Named North Carolina’s Player of the Year in 2005, Arnoux finished his scholastic career at NHHS in 2006 with 106 goals and 82 assists overall.
From 2006-2008, Arnoux played college soccer at Wake Forest University where he made 64 appearances and scored 33 goals in the NCAA Division | Atlantic Coast Conference. During his attendance in 2008, he became just the third player in the school’s history to eclipse 40 points in a single season.
