Pittsburgh Riverhounds News Release -- www.riverhounds.com

Friday, June 29, 2012

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Riverhounds wrap-up a three-game homestand this Saturday night when they welcome Orlando City for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Chartiers Valley Stadium. The Riverhounds and Lions are both unbeaten in their last three games and will look to maintain their form heading into the final six weeks of the season. With both clubs looking to put together results heading into the playoffs, Saturday night’s game should be filled with physical challenges, exciting combinations, and quality scoring opportunities.

Led by an extremely sophisticated and aggressive ownership group, under the direction of Phil Rawlins, Orlando City has garnered significant interest from Major League Soccer as a potential future expansion franchise. The defending league champions, who currently play at the Florida Citrus Bowl, are determined to prove their dominance within the USL PRO division. The Riverhounds, who began construction of their downtown stadium this week, will look to show their own class and motivations when the whistle blows.

Riverhounds Last Time Out

The Riverhounds are coming off an exciting come-from-behind home victory last Friday night against the Wilmington Hammerheads. The Hammerheads recorded the game’s first goal in the 50th minute when Manny Guzman tapped home from four yards out. The Riverhounds drew even seven minutes later when Matt Kassel converted from the penalty spot. The Riverhounds found the game-winning goal in 82nd minute when Mike Seth delivered a brilliant back-post service to connect with Darren Amoo, who found the back of the net for his second goal of the season.

Lions Last Time Out

The Lions are coming off a decisive 3-0 home victory against the Harrisburg City Islanders last Friday night. The Lions received a goal from Matt Luzunaris in the closing seconds of the first half. Coming out of the break with a one-goal lead, the Lions opened the second half with style when Dennis Chin found the back of the net on a fine goal from distance. Chin added his second tally of the game in the 70th minute to seal the game for the Lions.

Tickets for Saturday’s game can be purchased by calling into the Riverhounds office at (412) 539-1191 or at the ticket gates on game day.
