PLAINVIEW, NY - The Long Island Rough Riders play their second doubleheader of the 2012 season on Saturday, June 30 at St. Anthony High School’s Cy Donnelly Stadium in South Huntington, New York as the New Jersey Rangers and Central Jersey Spartans come to town.
The Rough Riders W-League side will match up against division rival New Jersey Rangers FC, with kick-off set for 5 p.m. ET. The Rough Riders have three games remaining in the 2012 W-League season and currently sit atop the Northeast Division standings.
The Rough Riders PDL team will take on the Central Jersey Spartans at 7:30 p.m. ET, their second matchup against the Spartans this season. The Rough Riders will be looking for redemption having lost 1-0 to the Spartans earlier this season.
"Both teams are looking forward to playing on their home field and giving their fans a good performance," said Long Island Rough Riders Vice-President Flavio Ferri, "As the regular season draws to an end, getting wins at home is our main focus."
The doubleheader will be hosted by They Often Cry Outreach (TOCO), a U.S. based not-for-profit organization founded by St. Lucian artist Taj Weekes. TOCO is dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged, at-risk and orphaned children in the Caribbean through sports, health and enrichment programs. TOCO will hold a benefit during the games raffling off a variety of signed soccer memorabilia such as:
- Signed team jersey - CD Chivas USA
- Signed team shirts - Chicago Fire and Philadelphia Union
- Game worn j erseys - Chicago Fire, Red Bulls and Ft. Lauderdale Strikers
- Gift package from NY Cosmos
- Signed team soccer balls - Sporting KC and Real Salt Lake
- Signed Rough Riders PDL and W-League soccer ball
In addition to the raffle, TOCO will also be holding an equipment drive, collecting any lightly used cleats, soccer balls, shorts, jerseys and sports apparel. TOCO will be set up by the Rough Riders merchandise tent.
