SILVER SPRING, Md. - Real Maryland FC is coming off of two come-from-behind victories this past weekend and now must face more of the South Atlantic Division’s foes Wednesday and Sunday. As of late, the Monarchs have been collecting points while giving the fans heart- pounding entertainment.
“They have been exciting to watch,” said General Manager David Noyes. “If you can get the job done with your own style that works great, but if you want to get to the playoffs, you need defense.”
The Monarchs have recently started the matches slowly, but have managed to turn it on when necessary to get points in recent competitions. They will face rivals the Northern Virginia Royals on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in Fairfax, Va. and then return home to take on the Carolina Dynamo at Richard Montgomery high School on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.
The Monarchs find themselves playing the last four their final five games of the PDL Regular Season at home, Richard Montgomery HS (Rockville, MD), on 7/1, 7/5, 7/8 & 7/15. Real Maryland FC will see Carolina, the Northern Virginia Royals, Fredericksburg Hotspur and West Virginia Chaos come to town during this span, with all teams fighting for a playoff spot.
This past Friday, the Monarchs found a victory in the final minute in a 3-2 win against Fredericksburg in Virginia. On Sunday, the Monarchs returned home to face Southern West Virginia King’s Warriors in front of a packed crowd at Richard Montgomery High School. Just like the game against the Hotspurs, the Monarchs fell behind early, but managed to once again pull off the victory with a second-half goal.
