OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Matt McDevitt capped off an event-packed second-half stoppage time on Tuesday with a goal that pulled out a 3-3 draw for the Kansas City Brass against the Springfield Demize at the Overland Park Soccer Complex.
McDevitt, who came off the bench in the 57th minute for the Brass (3-4-1, 10 points), scored in second-half stoppage time less than a minute after Josh Thomas gave the Demize (5-4-4, 19 points) a 3-2 lead. McDevitt had two goals in the game, the first coming in the 90th minute to tie the score, 2-2.
Springfield took a 2-0 lead at halftime thanks to goals by Eric Martin and Colin Helmrich.
Zach Balthazar got the Brass rally started with a goal in the 80th minute. That goal touched off more intense play in the final 10 minutes, capped by McDevitt’s two goals for Kansas City and Thomas’ goal for Springfield.
The Brass travels to Littleton, Col., this weekend for games Friday and Saturday against the Real Colorado Foxes. Kansas City returns home next Tuesday and plays the St. Louis Lions. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at the Overland Park Soccer Complex.
All Brass home games are at the Overland Park Soccer Complex on Field 1. There is no admission charge and parking is free at the complex.
