BRANDON, Fla. -- VSI Tampa looks to get back to winning ways on Thursday night as they face fellow PDL Southeast Division club Orlando City at JC Handly Park. The match up will mark the first time the two teams meet up this season in a key divisional match-up. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
VSI is preparing to face Orlando after suffering a disappointing 3-0 loss to the Panama City Beach Pirates on Sunday. The Pirates scored three goals in the first half to hand Tampa its first loss in four games.
Tampa coach Joel Harrison has been preparing the team all week and is set to face Orlando tomorrow night.
“The team has been feeling confident the last couple of weeks after our run of four wins, but know they need to refocus and get ready for Orlando tomorrow after the defeat to Panama City,” said Harrison. “We had a great few days of practice, so we will see what these boys are made of.”
Orlando City SC is based at the other end of Interstate-4 in Orlando, Fla. The club is similarly organized to VSI, in addition to their PDL team, the Lions also field a USL PRO squad and a Super-20 squad. The PDL team is led by Head Coach Joe Avallone, who has been with the club since its inception.
Orlando City has gotten off to a great start in 2012, and has lost just once in eight outings (4-1-3), their only defeat on the season coming against the Ocala Stampede. Their last time out, City picked up a 3-0 win against Ft. Lauderdale Schulz Academy.
