USL Feature Series: Keep an Eye on This Girl

During the next few months USLsoccer.com will highlight the on-the-field stars of the W-League by getting to know their personalities off the field. Up next: Liz Bogus of the Pali Blues. Bogus was a member of the very first Pali Blues team that went undefeated and won the W-League championship in 2008. After spending the next three years in WPS with the LA Sol and Boston Breakers she’s back with Pali and aiming to bring another championship to the club.

Bogus attended college and played four seasons at Arizona State from 2002-05. She finished her career as a Sun Devil with 31 goals and 18 assists. She holds third place in assists (18), second in game-winning goals (12), second in career points (80), and second in career goals (31) in the school’s record books.

On returning to Pali, Bogus said, “I look forward to playing for Charlie again. He is a passionate coach with a strong motivation to win. The ultimate goal this year is to win the championship, and with the team Charlie is putting together, I believe we can do that."

Tell us about your coach: Charlie is a very passionate coach with a strong desire to win. He creates a very competitive yet fun environment.

Biggest career highlight: Scoring my first WPS goal.

Biggest practical joker: On Pali I’m going to have to go with Nikki Washington.

Advice I would give to young girls following in my footsteps: Believe in yourself, have fun, and put in the extra work to get where you want to go.

I’m stranded on a small island. Five things I’d want with me: Solar powered IPhone, soccer ball, food, a bed, friends.

Tunes I’m listening to: Lately I’ve been really into country, which is not normally the case for me. Also been liking hits from Fun., Flo Rida and I can never get enough of Tegan and Sara. I have very diverse taste in music.

Best movie seen recently: Hunger Games and Moneyball

Retro item I wish would make a comeback: Well, I was waiting a long time for flannels to come back and they are still kind of in style so I guess I’m hoping they stick around :)

Favorite movie: A League Of Their Own

Describe yourself in five (six?) words: Kind, Loyal, Passionate, Witty, Determined, Honest.

Finish this!
I can’t get enough of… laughing

I spend my money on… food and coffee

My fashion style is… comfortable, casual and probably in need of some help!

Technology and social media is… addicting

Over time I’ve learned… That worrying about things is a waste of time.

Sometimes I need to…
 stop thinking.

Every day I try to… laugh.

I’m thankful for… my family, friends and the experiences that playing soccer has allowed me to have.

My biggest influence… my family.

I used to… want to be a movie star.

I always… have fun on the soccer field.

I have a friend… on almost every continent.

If I wasn’t playing soccer I’d be… still trying to figure that out.

In five years I see myself... living a happy, simple life.
