ST. JOHN'S, Antigua -- Antigua Barracuda FC today announced the signing of seven players for the 2011 USL PRO season. George Dublin, Miguel Baez, Akeem Thomas, Karanja Mack, Lawson Robinson, Tash Harris and Orlando Mitchum agreed professional terms with the Antigua based USL outfit in a signing ceremony at the Sticky Wicket.
"This is a significant and important occasion for us as we put together a unit that will compete and perform at their peak in this our inaugural USLPRO season. These players have all shown the commitment, expertise and the willingness to give their best whenever called upon,” said Director of Football Fernando Abraham. “They possess a wealth of experience and the vibrancy of youth to challenge any opposition and we are particularly pleased to have secured the commitment of our inspirational leader and Club Captain, George Dublin”.
Miguel Baez and Orlando Mitchum, Dominican Republic and St. Kitts and Nevis Internationals respectively, are the two non-Antigua and Barbuda players signed thus far while Karanja Mack, Lawson Robinson, Tash Harris and Akeem Thomas have all represented Antigua and Barbuda.
Antigua Barracuda FC will open its 2011 USL season against LA Blues on April 17 at the Sticky Wicket Grounds.
