CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Battery has agreed to terms with defender Colin Falvey, midfielder Zach Prince and goalkeeper Keith Wiggans for the upcoming USL PRO season. All three players were members of the Battery’s 2010 championship-winning team and sign subject to USSF approval.
Battery Head Coach Michael Anhaeuser commented “Getting Colin, Keith and Zach for the 2011 season is very important as all three players were with us last season during our championship run. Colin and Keith bring back our experience and understanding and Zach will look to build on his rookie season performances. It is great to get all three back as the 2011 squad starts to take shape.”
A native of Cork, Ireland, Falvey played 20 games for the Battery in 2010; he was shown a red card in the USL-2 championship match after tangling with Richmond striker Matt Delicate. Falvey spent the off-season with New Zealand’s YoungHeart Manawatu. He has also played professionally with Cobh Ramblers and Kilkenny City in the League of Ireland and in the US with the Wilmington Hammerheads.
Midfielder Zach Prince returns to the Battery for a second pro season after appearing in 16 games and scoring one goal in 2010. A native of Columbia, S.C., Prince was a four-year starter with the College of Charleston. The 24-year-old, 6-foot-0 and 175 pounds, attended Irmo High School.
