DAYTON, Ohio – The Dayton Dutch Lions FC are proud to announce the signing of Luke Magill for the 2011 USL PRO season.
The England native signed a two-year contract with the Dutch Lions. Recently Magill played for the youth team at English Premier League side Bolton Wanderers FC and spent the past two years at Lynn University. Magill also played for the USL Premier Development League’s Baton Rouge Capitals, helping the side reach the PDL semifinals in 2010.
“Luke made an extremely good impression at the tryout. We took notice of him immediately. He had good ball control and we were enthusiastic about his style of play, “ said Technical Director Cor van Hoeven.
“I signed because I love everything about the club," Magill said. "It is a very professional environment and a great franchise to be a part of. I spent some time a few years ago training in Holland with PSV and fell in love right away with the Dutch style of soccer and their approach to training and match preparation.”
Magill’s skill on the ball and ability to distribute well will be a great asset to the Dutch Lions 2011 roster. The season opener April 16th at home, Miami Valley South Stadium, against the Charleston Battery will be a great test for the Lions as it marks the start of their first year in the USL PRO Division.
