TAMPA, Fla. – Two of the top three teams in USL PRO hit the road this weekend for key road trips as the Rochester Rhinos take a swing through the Carolinas and Orlando City heads to Antigua for a pair of games against the Barracudas, highlighting the league’s weekend schedule.
Rochester moved to 4-0-0 on the season last weekend after a 1-0 win against the Charlotte Eagles in the Rhinos’ home opener at Sahlen’s Stadium. Jesse Myers’ side will face the Eagles again on Friday night, this time at Charlotte Christian Stadium at 8 p.m. ET, before making the trip down the coast to face the Charleston Battery in a matchup that pits the second- and third-place teams in the USL PRO standings. Saturday night’s game at Blackbaud Stadium will be available via USL Live on UNATION, the league’s new streaming video platform.
Orlando, meanwhile, will try to maintain its undefeated start to the season in its pair of games against Antigua Barracuda FC. After reclaiming the top spot in the league standings this past Saturday night with a dramatic 3-2 victory against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, the Lions are hoping to emulate their trip to the Caribbean last season that saw them pick up a pair of victories against the Barracudas. Both Friday night and Sunday afternoon’s games from Sir Vivian Richards Stadium will be available on USL Live.
The Los Angeles Blues make their first road trip of the season this weekend, visiting the Dayton Dutch Lions on Friday night before moving on to face the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday. The Dutch Lions should provide a good test for the Blues and new forward Bright Dike, who was added on loan from the Portland Timbers, as they look to claim their first win of the season at Miami Valley South Stadium after being denied last weekend by a late goal by the Richmond Kickers.
Richmond, meanwhile, hosts the Harrisburg City Islanders on Saturday night at City Stadium in a meeting of two of last season’s playoff teams. The Kickers have drawn each of their past two contests, and are aiming to get back on a winning track, but the City Islanders are hoping to put their defeat against the Charlotte Eagles last weekend behind them by picking up their second victory of the season.
