TAMPA, Fla. – USL Live on UNATION, the new streaming platform for USL PRO, swings into high gear this weekend with all six of the league’s contests being aired from Thursday through Saturday night. The weekend’s schedule, which is highlighted by Orlando City hosting the Richmond Kickers and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ swing through the Carolinas, will also see top-quality action as teams continue to fight for position early in the USL PRO season.
Orlando is currently engaged in a record-breaking run of form that has carried over from the conclusion of the 2011 USL PRO season. The Lions have won their past seven regular season outings, including a 3-0-0 start to this season, breaking the previous record that was shared by the Kickers and Antigua Barracuda FC. Now Orlando will continue its pursuit of the Kickers’ USL PRO record for wins to open a season on Saturday night at the Florida Citrus Bowl.
Two teams that are aiming to make a push up the standings play twice this weekend, with Antigua Barracuda FC opening the weekend’s action on Thursday night at 8 p.m. for the first of two games at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium against the Charlotte Eagles. Antigua won its last outing on the opening weekend of the season against Pittsburgh thanks to a pair of goals from Stefan Smith, and will be hoping to continue Charlotte’s tough start to the year as it visits the island.
The Riverhounds, for their part, bounced back nicely in their home opener this past weekend, with Seth C’deBaca scoring his first professional goal in a 2-0 win against Dayton. Now the Riverhounds make a swing through the Carolinas to face another side that’s started well in the Charleston Battery on Friday, before swinging up the coast to meet the Wilmington Hammerheads on Saturday, both at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Dayton, meanwhile, will try to bounce back from its defeat as it hosts the Rochester Rhinos in its home opener at CareFlight Stadium on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Dutch Lions will likely get a stern test from the Rhinos, though, after they claimed a pair of victories in Los Angeles in their opening two games of the season. The Rhinos are also yet to concede a goal, with new German goalkeeper Kristian Nicht shining in his first two outings of the season.
