Pittsburgh Riverhounds News Release -- www.riverhounds.com

Friday, April 20, 2012

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Pittsburgh Riverhounds (1-1-0) will host the Dayton Dutch Lions (0-0-1) on Saturday night to open their home USL PRO schedule. The Riverhounds will provide the first 250 fans to the game with white T-shirts to support the team in a “White Out” night. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Chartiers Valley Stadium.

During Easter weekend, the Riverhounds traveled to the Caribbean for a two-game set against Antigua Barracuda FC. In game one, the Riverhounds would receive a stellar performance from goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap. Denying the Barracudas’ Peter Byers on a penalty kick in the 35th minute, Gilstrap provided his teammates with the spark they needed. Six minutes later, Riverhounds striker Mike Seth headed home the game’s only goal off a corner kick. Connecting cleanly with Rich Costanzo’s service, Seth redirected the ball past the Barracudas goalkeeper Molvin James to earn his first professional goal. Gilstrap came up big in the closing minutes with multiple diving saves to preserve the Riverhounds' win and record his first shutout of the season.

The second meeting between the Riverhounds and Barracudas was fast-paced and filled with quality opportunities for both clubs. The Barracudas would take advantage of their chances to take a 3-1 victory. The Barracudas received one goal from Quinton Griffith on a set piece and two goals from Stefan Smith in the run of play. The Riverhounds converted their lone goal in the 82nd minute from the foot of rookie, Mike Green. Recording his first goal of his young professional career, Green confidently tucked a near-post shot past James.

With nearly two weeks off since their last game, the Riverhounds are healthy and well rested heading into the weekend matchup with the Dutch Lions. The clubs met twice during the 2011 season with each team earning victory in their home stadium.

The Dutch Lions traveled to Charlotte last weekend for their first game of the USL PRO season against the Charlotte Eagles. The two teams battled for 90 minutes, but neither side would budge seeing the game end in a scoreless draw.

Tickets for Friday’s game can be purchased by calling into the Riverhounds office at 412.539.1191 or at the ticket gates on game day. Youth General Admission tickets are $6, while Adult General Admission tickets are $9.
