CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Charleston Battery will donate $1,770 to the Betsy McAdams Memorial Endowment to benefit the Costal Community Foundation; the money was raised at the Battery’s home opening match versus the Richmond Kickers on April 14 as the team auctioned off their jerseys from the game. The Battery players wore special ‘retro 1993’ black and white striped jerseys to commemorate the start of the Charleston Battery’s 20th Anniversary Season.

The Betsy McAdams Memorial Endowment to benefit the Costal Community Foundation was formed in 2009 to honor long-time Charleston Battery employee Betsy McAdams who lost her battle with brain cancer during the 2009 USL season.

Betsy McAdams was a valued employee of the Charleston Battery since the teams’ inception in 1993. She served many roles at the Battery including director of operations and director of finance and business administration. McAdams was named chief operating officer in May 2008. McAdams was inducted in into the USL Hall of Fame in 2010.

The Charleston Battery defeated the Charlotte Eagles 3-0 on Tuesday night in a USL PRO match played in Charlotte; the Battery’s next home game is set for Friday, April 27 versus the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island. Gates open at 6 PM with kick off set for 7:30 PM ($10 - $18, www.charlestonbattery.com / (843) 971-GOAl (4625)).
