Ottawa Fury News Release -- www.ottawafury.com

Monday, April 16, 2012

OTTAWA, Ontario - The Ottawa Fury continue to unveil their roster for the upcoming PDL season and with every announcement head coach Stephen O’Kane’s determination to win becomes more evident. Three more pieces have been added to the puzzle that are not only decorated players, but two with professional experience. O’Kane’s recent additions include a pair of CIS All-Stars in Sandro Rajkovic and Ian Greedy who captured a bronze medal this past season with the Cape Breton Capers. The third addition to the Fury is no stranger to the PDL as Anthony DiBiase returns to Ottawa after stints with FC London and Hamilton FC. With the opening of training camp just over two weeks ago the Fury are quickly showing that they are looking to return to being one of the PDL’s elite clubs in 2012.

For a player that is all of 22 years of age, Rajkovic has an impressive resume that is highlighted by playing professionally in Croatia, Germany and Canada not to mention helping the Cape Breton University Capers to the school’s first-ever medal in Men’s sports when they captured bronze at CIS nationals this past fall. The Crotian-born defender, who now called Hamilton, Ontario home, has played in the Croatian Second Division with HNSK Moslavina, with Alemannia Aachen in Second Division of the Bundesliga, and with NK Koprivnica of the Croatian Third Division.

"Sandro is a classy polished and accomplished defender who has been playing the last three years in Croatia with HNSK Moslavina as well as in Germany with Alemannia Aachen," said O’Kane. "This experience in Europe will be a massive bonus for Sandro as he competes in the PDL for the first time."

Rajkovic’s experience also includes a stint with CSL side FC Hamilton Croatia. Standing at 6-foot-3, his size and experience is likely to pay dividends for a Fury side that under O’Kane has always been sound defensively.

While Rajkovic was a dominating defensive presence for the Capers, Greedy was a dominating offensive presence and scored a historic game-winning goal that gave CBU bronze at CIS Nationals. The native of Lower Sackville, NS was the second on the Capers scoring charts this season with 11 goals in 13 regular season games playing alongside former Fury PDL players Andrew Rigby, Keishen Bean and keeper Andrew Murphy.

"Ian is a pure goal scorer - he lives and breathes to score goals," said O’Kane. "He comes to us with a big pedigree in Canadian soccer having grown up in the NTC program out east and this past season earning All-Canadian honours with Cape Breton. He is exactly the type of player you want in your back pocket when a big game rolls around."

Greedy has also been on trial and participated in camps with professional academies at Bristol City and Sheffield United in England.

DiBiase is an accomplished veteran defender that boasts three years of PDL experience and is coming off an impressive season last year where he collected six assists in a successful campaign for expansion franchise Hamilton FC. Following an all-star season with FC London in 2009, DiBiase was signed by USL PRO side Harrisburg City Islanders, featuring in eight matches for them. His PDL career began back in 2007 with the Ottawa Fury and since then native of Richmond Hill, Ontario has netted two goals and 10 assists in 35 games amassing more than 3,000 minutes.

"Anthony brings a wealth of experience and success to our team this season," said O’Kane. "He is another play who knows how to win and is a massive addition to our team."

DiBiase was an All-Conference defender during his time at Niagara University prior to joining Belgian Third Division side Olympic Charleroi.

Ottawa kicks off the 2012 PDL season in New Hampshire on May 26th and will host PDL newcomers Boston Victory on June 2nd in their home opener at the Algonquin College Soccer Complex. 2012 Season Tickets are on sale now at www.ottawafury.com and fans can save up to 50% off with early bird pricing until May 1st.
