Reading United News Release -- www.readingunitedac.com

Wednesday, April 4, 2012

READING, Pa. – After playing at Exeter Township Senior High School’s Don Thomas Stadium since 2005, the Reading United will call Albright College’s Gene L. Shirk Stadium home for the 2012 season.

Dedicated in 1925, Shirk Stadium has become one of the premier NCAA DIII stadiums in the nation. The main grandstand seats 3,000 spectators while providing locker rooms, training facilities and laundry room at field level. A state-of-the-art press box sits atop the new grandstand, which replaced the original in 2005. The former grass playing surface was replaced with A-turf, an artificial turf surface for multi-sport play.

“The fans will have closer access to the field and players, as this stadium has no athletic track around the soccer field,” said Troy Snyder, Reading United AC’s Vice President and Technical Director. “Reading United AC would like to extend a special thank you to Exeter Athletic Director, Tom Legath, and Exeter Head Soccer Coach, Chris Farrell, for the their hospitality and generosity in use of Exeter's facilities over the past few years."

Reading will host their first game at Shirk Stadium since 2004 on Saturday, May 12th at 7pm against the New Jersey Rangers. 2012 gameday tickets and season tickets are now available at readingunitedac.com.
