WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Wilmington Hammerheads have re-signed two players, forward Andriy Budnyy and goalkeeper Kyle Polak, for the 2012 season, pending USSF approval. As part of their new contracts, both players will take on expanded roles with the club in addition to their work on the field. Coach David Irving has added Polak to his staff as goalkeeper coach and named Budnyy the director of Hammerhead youth camps.

Both players have set themselves apart as being leaders not only on the field - offering their experience, skill, and knowledge of the game to the men they call teammates - but in the community as well.

Polak is returning for his third season as goalkeeper for the 2012 Hammerheads. He is involved with Cape Fear Soccer Association as the club’s goalkeeper trainer, as well as holding the position of Assistant Athletic and Marketing Director at the YMCA of Wilmington.

Polak is also the director for the Wilmington Hammerheads’ goalkeeper camp during their 2012 Camp Series this summer. He will be helping children whom are interested in working on their goalie skills. Not only that, Polak is a player/keeper coach for his very own Hammerheads this season.

Throughout Budnyy’s career, he has been involved with many charities, including World Vision, and has led youth soccer camps across North Carolina. Budnyy is on staff heading the 2012 Camp Series that the Wilmington Hammerheads are conducting during the summer months. He is a director for the player camp series and works to make each child’s experience expand their love of the game.
