CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Charleston Battery defeated the College of Charleston 1-0 and Clemson University 2-0 in a pair of preseason scrimmages Saturday on afternoon at Blackbaud Stadium. The College of Charleston defeated Clemson 1-0 in the third match of the round-robin triple-header.
In the first game against the College of Charleston, midfielder Matt Kassel scored the lone goal in the 11th minute after some good build up play involving midfielder Jose Cuevas. Cuevas cut the ball back to Kassel who drove the ball in off the left goal-post.
The College of Charleston defeated Clemson University 1-0 in the second game of the triple-header.
Midfielder Charlie Romero and forward Moses Aduny both tallied as the Battery beat Clemson in the final game.
The Charleston Battery continue their preseason preparations with a game next Saturday at Blackbaud Stadium against the Wilmington Hammerheads; kick off is set for 4 p.m.
Charleston Battery home opener – Saturday April 14
The Charleston Battery home opener is set for Saturday, April 14 at Blackbaud Stadium versus the Richmond Kickers; kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. The game is the official kick off celebration for the Battery’s 20th anniversary season, the team will be wearing special ‘retro ‘93’ jerseys and there will be Fireworks immediately following the match.
