WOODBRIDGE, Va. – The Northern Virginia Majestics were pleased to announce today the coaching staff for the 2012 USL W-League and Super 20 women’s teams. Marie Schweitzer, Roger Wimmer, and Nate Nemerow were selected to take the reins of the Majestics senior level teams for the respective upcoming seasons.
Schweitzer moves into the senior coaching ranks after serving as the Northern Virginia Majestics Director of Youth Development since 1999.
In addition to overseeing all Super Y-League and camp operations, Schweitzer has coached NVSC Junior Majestics 94 team year round in both the Super Y-League and Washington Area Girls Soccer (WAGS) since 2003.
A four-year starter at Radford University, Schweitzer (Marie Onorato at the time) saw her number retired in recognition for her player accolades as a stalwart defender on a squad that gained national ranking. Prior to her collegiate career, Schweitzer garnered numerous state and regional titles, as well as a National Silver medalist, as a member of the Braddock Road Cougars (Fairfax, VA) in WAGS.
A member of the Majestics W-League coaching staff for the previous two years, Wimmer returns to an expanded role with the club in 2012. The current Director of Coaching for Gunston Soccer Club, Wimmer also served as the District Goalkeeping Coach for the Northern Virginia Olympic Development Program as well as assistant coach at the University of D.C.
Wimmer’s collegiate playing career included stints at both George Mason University and Charleston Southern University. He holds a National Goalkeeper License as well as a National C License.
A native of Prince William County, Nemerow joins the Majestics with over eight years of head coaching experience in Northern Virginia high school soccer. The current head coach of the Battlefield High School (Haymarket, VA) varsity boys, Nemerow also held head coaching positions at both Brentsville High School and Osbourn Park High School.
Nemerow nabbed back-to-back High School Coach of the Year titles in the Evergreen District in 2010 and 2011, in addition to Northwestern District Coach of the Year in 2009. A graduate of James Madison University, Nemerow also holds a Masters Degree from George Mason University.
The Northern Virginia Majestics face a challenging schedule of W-League opponents in the upcoming season, including the Virginia Beach Piranhas and D.C. United Women. The Majestics kick off their home season on June 2nd against local rival Fredericksburg Impact.
