GREENWOOD, S.C. -- Palmetto FC announced today their final players for the 2012 roster. Defenders Nick Lane, Drew Ruggles and Thomas Valikonis and midfielder Hunter Norton were added to the Bantams’ roster. All four players are rising juniors at Georgia Southern University.
Lane has been a career starter since arriving at Georgia Southern. The Georgia native has been a key player on the backline. He is expected to play at right back for the Bantams.
As the only midfielder of the group, Norton brings both a goal scoring threat and ability to create to the team. He has scored six goals and added five assists in his career as the Eagles’ starting center midfielder. He will play the same role for the Bantams.
Ruggles is a commodity that many teams would like to have. As a left-footed player with a strong leg, he can be a weapon on the flank. The career starter will feature primarily as a left back.
Valikonis will be the final addition to the Bantams’ defense. He is yet another versatile player who can play anywhere in the back. He is the only player of this group from South Carolina.
All four players will be playing in their first USL PDL season. Visit www.palmettofc.com for more updates.
