WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Wilmington Hammerheads announced that they have secured the services of forward Steven Perry, pictured right, for the 2012 season, pending USSF approval. The 23-year-old makes his way back to the United States to play for the Hammerheads after a successful 2011 campaign with Finnish third division club Ekenäs IF.
Born in Edmond, Oklahoma, Perry played college soccer at the University of Notre Dame, capping his college soccer career in 2010. Appearing in 75 matches, Perry played primarily as a target forward; making 33 starts, tallying 15 goals and eight assists. During his senior year, Perry led the Big East in scoring with 12 goals, contributed four assists, was named team MVP, and was voted a unanimous All Big-East First Team Selection amongst his many collegiate accolades.
While attending Notre Dame, Perry also played for the USL Premier Development League club the Indiana Invaders in both their 2009 and 2010 seasons. In 2011, Perry was selected 39th overall in the MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution.
