HARRISBURG, Pa.- Jason Pelletier has signed a two-year contract with the Harrisburg City Islanders, pending USSF approval. With the signing, the local product remains at the club he has been with since 2008.
The 26-year old has been around the team for a while, having grown up in Harrisburg. The Middletown High School graduate attended Robert Morris University, where he earned All-NEC selections in 2005 and 2006 before signing with the Islanders in 2008.
Pelletier was a crucial component of the team’s lineup last season, totaling a goal and an assist. The midfielder appeared in 23 games last season and logged 1,951 minutes, good for second most on the team. His 5,947 career minutes in an Islanders uniform rank him fifth all time for the club.
Pelletier joins a number of players returning from the team’s successful 2011 squad, which won the National Division Title before falling just short in the USL PRO Championship game.
Following his signing, Pelletier noted how excited the team is to make another run at the title in 2012, saying, “After being so close to holding the trophy last year, we have our eyes set on the championship. We are one of the most consistent teams in the league and with a good core group of guys we are definitely able to get back there.”
The team will begin this run on Friday, April 20 when they travel to North Carolina to take on the Charlotte Eagles. Harrisburg’s home opener will be on May 4, when they will host Charlotte at Skyline Sports Complex.
