Southern West Virginia King’s Warriors News Release

BECKLEY, W.V. -- The Southern West Virginia King’s Warriors, new members of the United Soccer League’s Premier Development League, are pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Reitnour as the team’s Head Coach and Technical Director.

Reitnour is currently the Head High School Soccer Coach at Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, N.C. During his nine-year coaching career at Wesleyan, the Trojans have captured five Piedmont Athletic Conference of Independent Schools Conference Titles, enjoyed four State Finals appearances, and won two PACIS State Championships, (2005 & 2011) and posted a 156-43-23 record.

Reitnour’s career record in 13 seasons in the high school game is 210-70-26 (Boys), 60-18-7 (Girls), and 270-88-38 (Overall). In 2011, the Men of Troy captured the 3A North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association State Title - Wesleyan Christian Academy’s 11th state championship.

Coach Reitnour has served five years as NCISAA 3A Boys Soccer chair, earned recognition as PACIS Coach of the Year four times (03, 04, 06, 11), North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association 3A Private School Regional Coach of the Year (05, 11), North Carolina State Coach of the Year (05, 11), National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association /Adidas South Regional Coach of the Year (05, 11), and has been a finalist for NSCAA/Adidas National Coach of the Year three times (05, 09, 11).

"I am honored to accept the position of Head Soccer Coach with the King’s Warriors of the United Soccer League’s Premier Development League," said Reitnour. "I am thankful to Dr. Blume and The King’s Warriors organization for giving my family and me the opportunity to partner with the King’s Warriors to serve the Beckley and Southern West Virginia communities.

"We are committed to building a Kings Warriors team that will embody excellence, professionalism and servant-leadership on and off of the field. The Kings Warriors expect to compete at an extraordinarily high level on the field, where the point is to develop players and win games. While winning games and developing professional caliber players will be the point of our team, loving God and serving people will be our purpose."

Reitnour made his first trip to Southern West Virginia and Beckley this past Saturday, as the King’s Warriors held local tryouts at their home field, the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Youth Soccer Complex.

"We are delighted to name Scott Reitnour as the first-ever Head Coach of the King’s Warriors," said Jim Blume, the President and Founder of the Nehemiah Group which is the ownership group of the new USL franchise in Southern West Virginia. "His many years as a soccer coach, his past work with professional teams, and his ability to merge a team for ministry with players capable of playing at a high level, are all traits that make Scott an ideal choice for us as Head Coach."

In addition to his duties at Wesleyan Christian Academy, Reitnour has coached several classic & premier teams with the Piedmont Triad Football Club. He earned recognition as NSCAA Mondo Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year, and became one of four finalists for the NSCAA/Mondo National Coach of the Year (2009).

Reitnour also runs Imago Dei Soccer Academy, which was founded in 2007. Imago Dei Soccer Academy provides individual soccer technique & agility training for competitive soccer players and goalkeepers. Small-group lesson participants enjoy technique and agility training based on a proven Dutch training method. Numerous players have participated in Imago Dei and improved their position on their club, high school and collegiate teams. Multiple ID players have graduated to the college game.

Reitnour played on and captained (95-96) three nationally ranked teams at Houghton College from 1993-1995; served as the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Houghton College and Alfred University; and enjoyed directing camps, coaching and playing with the Charlotte Eagles of USL PRO.
