CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Charleston Battery open preseason camp this weekend with a final invitation trial. Head coach Mike Anhaeuser has invited twenty prospects to Blackbaud Stadium who will compete for a chance to earn a contract with the Battery. The trialist will join the Battery’s rostered players as the team prepares for the upcoming Carolina Challenge Cup featuring Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew and D.C. United from February 25 – March 3 at Blackbaud Stadium.

The Battery kicks off its preparations with a scrimmage versus the College of Charleston on February 21st then plays three tough matches against Major League Soccer opposition in the Carolina Challenge Cup, February 25 – March 3 at Blackbaud Stadium, Daniel Island, S.C.
The Battery’s opening game of the tournament is at 7:15 p.m. on February 25 versus the Columbus Crew. Charleston plays D.C. United on Wednesday, February 29 at 7:15 p.m. and then closes out the competition on Saturday, March 3 with a 7:15 p.m. match versus the Chicago Fire.
