DAYTON, Ohio -- The Dayton Dutch Lions FC are pleased to announce midfielder Mikael McNamara will play his second year for the Dutch Lions FC in USL PRO. DDL FC re-signed the 25-year-old Canadian for the 2012 season after he made 18 appearances in the 2011 season.
McNamara was named Most Valuable Player at SUNY Albany in his Junior year of college, and was the captain of the USL PDL's Toronto Lynx for two years before he signed a contract with the Dutch-American club. McNamara had three goals in 10 games during the 2010 PDL season for the Lynx.
McNamara has great expectations for the coming season; "I hope to better myself as a player and add my skills to a successful Dayton Dutch Lions FC season."
Head Coach Ivar van Dinteren is happy to have McNamara back in the team, as he joins Joel DeLass and Shane Smith from the Dutch Lions' 2011 squad.
"The squad slowly grows and I'm happy to see who will be on the 2012 roster," van Dinteren said. "I am looking forward to working with Mikael again. He is a great asset, on and off the field."
The Dayton Dutch Lions open the 2012 USL PRO season with a pair of road games as they travel to face the Charlotte Eagles on Friday, April 13 at 7 p.m. The club's home opener is scheduled for Saturday, April 28 when the Dutch Lions host the Rochester Rhinos at Miami Valley South Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
