LOS ANGELES - The Pali Blues are excited to announce that they have signed midfielder Beth West, a junior for the Texas A&M Aggies, for the 2012 USL W-League season. While earning many top collegiate honors, the 5’3” playmaker has also represented the USA at the U-18 and U-20 Youth National Teams.
Pali Blues head coach, Charlie Naimo, has wanted West on the Pali Blues squad before, but missed out on her as she sustained season-ending injuries at A&M in the previous two years.
“I am very excited about having Beth join us,” said Naimo. “I have been talking to her about coming out for a few years now, and it finally fits. She will bring so much with her versatility, but I am planning on having her pull the strings for us.”
A former Soccer Buzz Freshman All-American and spot in the 2011 All-Big 12 First Team, West played in 22 matches while starting 14, and recorded a conference-best 14 assists in the 2011 season. She ended the season ranked fourth in the nation for total assists, and fifth in assists per game.
West is looking forward to taking this as a chance to improve her game and to prepare for her final season at A&M.
“Charlie is so dedicated to this program, and really knows how to get the girls fired up and excited to play,” she said. “I'm looking forward to working with a coach who is so knowledgeable and passionate about the game, and not to mention, has an outstanding track record.”
