CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Charleston Battery defeated the College of Charleston 2-0 in a preseason game on Tuesday afternoon at Blackbaud Stadium. Stephen Armstrong and JC Mack both tallied goals in the second half for the Battery.
The Battery controlled much of the first half but was unable to find the back of the net.
Early after the second half was underway Battery veteran Armstrong scored an unassisted goal from outside the penalty area. The second goal came from Mack, who scored on the rebound after John Wilson’s free kick was blocked by the College of Charleston goalkeeper.
College of Charleston alumni Zach Prince, Keith Wiggans and Sean Flatley all saw action for the Battery.
Next up for the Battery is the Cooper River Bridge Run on April 2nd. The Battery squad will once again take part in this annual 10k race with 40,000 other participants which begins in Mt. Pleasant and finishes in downtown Charleston.
