OCALA, Fla. -- The Ocala Stampede is excited to welcome Matt Weston as the club's new Technical Director.

Having played professionally in England for Ipswich Town, Weston has extensive playing experience. His career began in 1986 when he spent four years with the Manchester United Academy of Excellence. While at the academy he received coaching from the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.

Weston’s career then took him to Ipswich Town of the English Premier League, where he played under the late John Lyall. Weston spent five years at Ipswich in the mid-1990s before joining Stockport County on loan during the 1995-96 season. Weston retired from full time professional football soon after, embarking on his coaching career.

Weston's coaching experience spans more than a decade in both the UK and United States. He has worked at all levels of the game in Collegiate and Professional soccer, as Assistant, Head Coach and Technical Director.

Upon arriving in the United States in 2006, Weston became a Player Development Officer for Major League Soccer. Back in May 2011, Weston moved on after 12 months as the Technical Director/Head Coach of FC New York in USL PRO after resigning from the position to continue growing his soccer business. He is looking forward on helping the Stampede grow in their inaugural season as a competitive and Christ-Centered soccer club.
