BALTIMORE -- The Baltimore Bohemians announced today that Baltimore native Brandon Quaranta has joined the staff as Assistant Coach to Head Coach Steve Nichols.
Quaranta has an impressive record as a coach at the youth level with the Baltimore Bays Soccer Club. As a head coach, he led his U15 boys squad to bring the 2010 National Championship back to Baltimore. In the same year, his U13 boys squad won the Region I Championship. Quaranta also spent time as an assistant coach with US Club Academy teams in the U16 and U18 age groups.
In addition to his coaching successes, Quaranta is a board member with the Bays, helping the organization become the No.1 nationally ranked youth club by Soccer America. He oversees the instruction of the Bays’ coaches and players of their pre-academy teams. Quaranta also served as a talent evaluator and player scout for the Maryland Olympic Development Program.
Quaranta serves as assistant to Nichols at the McDonogh School, winning Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association titles in 2007, 2008 and 2011. The Eagles are consistently ranked as one of the best programs in the country, achieving the top ranking in 2009.
As a player, Quaranta was a standout for both University of Maryland-Baltimore County and Hofstra University, winning conference championships at both institutions. He was the leading goal scorer for UMBC’s 2002 season and won the team’s “Freshman of the Year” award in 2000.
“Brandon is clearly one of the best young and up-and-coming coaches in our country,” said Nichols. “He is a tireless recruiter, an amazing motivator, and a very knowledgeable X’s and O’s guy. He embodies the three main characteristics to be a great coach. He won his first national championship at the young age of 26, also winning two regional championships in the same year. He has developed numerous national team players as well as being very instrumental in the Baltimore Bays being the number one club in the country for four straight years. Brandon is also a member of the McDonogh coaching staff that has won three of the last five MIAA Championships.”
