ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Rochester Rhinos have signed UNC Wilmington’s Brandon Miller, for the 2012 USL PRO season pending league approval.
“I have had the chance to see Brandon play on a couple of different occasions.” Rhinos Head Coach Jesse Myers said. “Each time I came away impressed with his ability to do his job. When you throw in the fact that he’s been mentored by Aidan Heaney, a former 'keeper with the New England Revolution, it made it a fairly easy decision for us to make.”
Brandon Miller played collegiately for the University of North Carolina Wilmington for the past four seasons. Miller earned first team All-CAA honors in his first full season as a starter as a senior in 2011. He made sixty-eight saves in eighteen matches and posted a 1.36 goals-against average in his last eleven matches in goal with Wilmington. Miller made fourteen starts in his first three years at Wilmington.
“It’s a great step by Rochester picking up a young player with a very bright future.” UNC Wilmington Coach Aidan Heaney said.
UNC Wilmington Head Coach Aidan Heaney made nineteen starts for the New England Revolution in 1996 and 1997. He finished fifth in the league in goals-against average. Heaney began his professional career in Germany in 1992 before returning to the States to play in Major League Soccer. Heaney completed his eleventh season with UNC Wilmington last fall.
